What you just took

You answered questions about yourself for somebody else’s benefit. This page is about what that actually measured, what it cannot tell anyone, and what it is for.

Your reading is yours

A copy is already in your inbox—we sent it the moment you finished. It is the same reading of how you work that was shared with the person who invited you, and you can read it before any conversation happens.

What the other person sees is not identical, and you should know the difference. They receive a reading of how your way of working lines up with a particular role. That comparison is theirs. The description of how you work is yours, and it is the half that helps you speak for yourself.

What it measured

Two things, and it asked you about both rather than inferring either.

Your Orienting Stance

How you turn toward a group’s work—whether you tend to point toward what is ahead, hold things steady, raise the energy, watch for what must be protected, or make sense of what is happening.

Your Execution Rhythm

Which part of a piece of work you are strongest in. Every job runs the same arc—something gets started, organised, connected, adjusted, and finally decided on. You are not equally strong across all five, and almost nobody is.

Put together, those two make one named pattern—your Energetic Stance. It is a description of how you operate, written to be recognisable rather than flattering.

What it does not say about you

These are limits by design, not caution.

  • It is not a score, and there is no overall number. No such number exists anywhere in the system, including in the version the other person sees.
  • It is not a measure of ability. Where a role sits relative to how you work is a distance—what the job would ask you to reach for. It says nothing about whether you can do it, and plenty of people do excellent work at a long reach.
  • It is not a personality type, and it is not a verdict. It describes how you tend to move, which is a thing you can decide to change.
  • It cannot predict anything. Indications, never destiny.
  • It is not a ranking of you against other people. Your reading is computed from your answers alone.

Why this is not a hiring test

Wavelength builds instruments for understanding how people actually work—in the situation they are actually in, rather than in the abstract.

What you took reads one part of that: how you orient, and where in a piece of work you are strongest. The wider system reads other things—what restores you and what drains you, how you show up socially against how much you have in the tank, which moves are available to you when you are stuck, what you keep reaching for regardless of the job. Hiring is one place these get used. It is not what they are for.

The point of knowing how you work is that you can then work with it—choose differently, ask for what you need, and recognise when a situation is asking you to operate against your grain, which is worth knowing whether or not you decide to do it anyway.

Wayfinder

Your own daily surface—your reading beside the work in front of you, including how much you have to spend today.

Circles

A small group agrees to show each other how they work at their best. You see your own reading first, and choose whether to share it.

Three depths of the reading you just took. Longer asks more and is entitled to say more.

What happens to your reading

  • It was shared with the person who invited you, for the role they named, and you agreed to that before you started. That record is kept as you gave it.
  • Sharing it once does not share it onward. Nothing about you moves between products because a company holds a copy—a connection between two products is made by your action, never inferred.
  • You can ask to be forgotten. What is deleted is the link between you and the reading—the reading itself survives with nothing attached to it, so nobody's statistics quietly change because you left. Afterwards no connected product can look you up. Most keep nothing about you and ask us each time; where one keeps its own marker for you, that marker stops resolving to anyone the moment you are forgotten, and the product deletes its copy on its own next pass. What a company has already written down on its own systems is that company's to delete, and we say so rather than promising something we cannot reach.
  • An old reading is never quietly rescored. If the way we calculate something changes, what you were shown stays what you were shown, and anywhere the two appear together the older one says so.

If you want your copy again, it is in the email we sent when you finished—or ask the person who invited you, who has the same reading of how you work.
